Let Them Eat Cake - Marie Antoinetteby loveComment: Nice texture in the cake, but I feel like it needs to be staged a little better. The big drip of frosting on top of the middle layer detracts for me. It's also a shame that the middle layer is set back a bit from the other two, because the DOF is softening that while the others are sharper. The lighting is very pleasant, though. |

"Let them eat cake" ... or SPRINKLES! by SAScambosComment: Very pretty model and I like the idea. I think a different crop would work better, as the area in her neck and shoulder don't seem to add anything to the image. I also don't understand the significance of the tear (or is it a rhinestone?) in the corner of her eye. The way the earring is in shadow also doesn't work well for me, because it seems like if it's in there, it should be doing something more. |

BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE PHOTOGRAPHERby E450Comment: The whole scene is a little too dark and would benefit from more dramatic lighting. The composition also seems a little weak, as there is no particular focal point and the fact that Half-Dome is facing out of the frame tends to lead the eye off the left edge. This might work better wider and would almost certainly look better longer, but as it is it's a little bland. |

"I an NOT a Rigatoni, I am a Bucattini!"by hotpastaComment: It's a nice idea and the image delivers on the quote well. I find the light not quite dramatic enough, plus I wish there were more than just the one color. Also, I don't recognize the quote at all. |

"I can resist everything except temptation." - Wild Oscarby kingskingdomComment: I tend to have trouble connecting with this sort of portrait, but it's executed very well. The lighting is flattering and has that glamour quality without being overdone. PP is well done and not too heavy.
Trying to deconstruct the lighting, it looks like maybe an on-axis ring light plus a soft fill from the right, and then maybe a background light. I wonder what it would look like with a separation light on her hair. Of course, I'm probably talking out of my behind at this point. |

Houston, we have a problem.by aliquiComment: I like the texture in the foreground, but I'm having a little trouble figuring out what I'm looking at and how it relates to the title. |

You come to me, on the day of my daughter's wedding...by AmeedEl-GhoulComment: Gorgeous composition. I love the reds in the wood floor, and the gauzy, ethereal feel to the light. I'm not 100% sure about the way the woman is lit--I wonder whether I might prefer it if she were a little darker or a little brighter. Maybe not, though. The PP is also a little heavy--I think it's appropriate for a fine art shot, but I think I would prefer something more naturalistic for a wedding album. |
