Actually, the necklace is a really good object for trying low key. The intricate shapes could be really stunning with the right light. Try looking at it in different natural light situations beside a window under cloudy conditions and sunny conditions. How does the light emphasize the shape? Hope you try some more compositions with it.

I feel this would be nicer if there was some more light defining her shape. It's ok and desirable in low key to have areas that highlight shape. This picture could be lightened up quite a bit and still be low key.

Pretty and well exposed. To me, low key isn't just having a background that is dark. It's about painting with shadows. This is a pretty picture but is not low key. Crop it down to the actual content & you'll find it's a pretty normal distribution of tone, mostly middle to light.
