itty bittyby indigo997Comment: We've found several snakes under wood in the yard recently. This was the smallest I'd ever seen though. I kept it in a little glass aquarium for a day so that the kids could see it.
I had a really hard time coming up with a way to shoot him. I have some shots of the kids holding him, and he looks tiny even in their hands. It's amazing how fast he is ... I had to drape a laundry basket in black fabric and place it under him. I don't need a baby snake loose in the bedroom!
I have other shots with better composition, but this was the only one where I caught his tongue out. He came out to the edge of the front flower and was reaching toward my camera as if he wanted to say hello.
Macro lens +4, bounced flash, f 2.5, 1/160, ISO 200 (thus the noise in the background), levels adjusted slightly |

Peace In The Valleyby jmsetzlerComment: Very strong shot. It stood out from the rest when I went through the thumbnails. Very shallow dof, but it works nicely. Is this a custom quadtone? I really think this would've done better in a different challenge which is unfortunate. It's definitely better than a most of the pictures above it. Giving it the title "memorial garden" would've probably helped.
Nice title too ;) I uploaded my snake pic two minutes before the deadline so I just put the first thing that came into my mind. Maybe I should just start leaving them blank because I rarely come up with anything good. |

Singled Outby crabappl3Comment: I liked this shot a lot and gave it a 7 (which is high for me), but I think it has some issues. All of the background stalks are really distracting. It might work better as a close-up of the individual ear. I like the b&w choice a lot. Maybe you could try one not totally desat with the kernels still yellow.. something to help it stand out more. I like that the front plant gives the picture some depth, but it's a little distracting that it's so large and blurry. Fits the topic well though. |

A River Runs Through Itby channeledComment: Exposure is good. Composition is good. Quality seems off somehow. There are, what appears to be, artifacts around the ppl. Low end camera or bad software maybe? Too bad that it'll negatively affect the score since it really isn't your fault. |

"The Hulk"by svitalComment: lol. Are these the ones that make noise? My niece loves those. Lighting could be a bit more even on the hand to the left. It's mostly in shadow. Nice, simple shot. |

Psycho by JackoComment: Classic! Might've cropped a little more off the bottom. Good contrast. |

Bell, Book, And Candleby joannadivaComment: Read my sign? Haven't heard of the movie, but I like the band :)
Focus is soft on the kitty, but I like it overall. Interesting lighting and composition. |

Old Soul by sherComment: Congrats on the ribbon! You make it looks so easy *sigh* ;P
Great fill-the-frame and also nice symmetry. Looks like tough lighting, but you did a nice job with exposure. |

Belvedereby ramoneComment: very nice diagonals. it really bugs me that the building/convergence point is smack in the center of the shot though |
