Over the Bayby jamesgossComment: Congrats on the good finish James. You should be proud of your shot as it captures more than just the fireworks! |

Where have all the children gone?by TrompieComment: I like the framing of the trees and the composition. Something I have learnt on DPC is that it generally scores better if the subject is a bit lighter than the surroundings because the eye is drawn towards lighter objects. Your sky is a little too bright and maybe takes some of the emphasis off of the person. I do understand that the scene you photographed is quite difficult especially under basic editing because of the bright sky and also the darker shadows. Keep it up - I see potential! |

Lollipop Roadhouse - Pretoria, Gautengby RianBotesComment: Love the perspective you shot this from and a good use of UWA lens. Feels a little empty on the right hand side and might have befefited from some lens distortion correction but overall a good shot. Hope it does well! |

Soft Spokenby adigitalromanceComment: Congrats on the good score and high placing. Top class PP'ing to suit the shot. I'm glad you went with this shot as it fitted the subject matter more. Well done. |

I could live with Global Warmingby RianBotesComment: Oh the irony! Does a homeless man (living on the streets, just trying to survive from day to day, trying to keep warm (mind those toes!), living in the midst of filth, rubbish and disorder) even know about global warming? :-)
You have managed to capture a special moment here and I hope the viewers see and understand the context in which this was shot. It is truly humbling to see someone like this and then think about what we have in life!

Michigan Cityby LN13Comment: Something else that might have got a point or two knocked off by some voters is that it seems to be oversharpened. There is a halo around the bird, the pier and the top of the lighthouse. It also undoubtedly accentuates the ripples in the water and as EL-ROI said smoother water would have worked better to add to the smoothness and calmness of the sunset. Hope that helps a bit more... |

The Little White Lieby RianBotesComment: Interesting spread of votes as you predicted. I'm guessing most of those 12 x 3 votes were people that didnt even notice the spider - not your fault as they are speed voting and didnt bother to take a careful look. Pity about the high ISO noise and the flower may be a bit too dominant and therefore the spider doesnt feature as strongly as it could have - but its a wonderful capture regardless especially seeing as it is not your normal subject. Job well done I say. |

The Fortby prperoldComment: Very nice Philip and deserving of a good high finish. Tricky - a polarised filter might have helped the sky a bit - but then I'm guessing the reflection would have vanished. Still very good though! |
