Shot right near the golden gate bridge, this is the Sausolito fireworks.

I have no expectations for this. Fireworks are extremely hard to capture, out of the whole night, this was the closest I came to anything remotely interesting.

I'm shocked this is doing so well, especially after my last entry was in the last 6%. DPC sure can be fickle sometimes.

I did some curves adjustments on the sky to warm/improve the color and make more dramatic contrast.
I used a gradient mask that faded as it approached the water.
The pier had a levels mask applied. (trying to get more details out of the silhouette)
Sharpen via high-pass.
Slight Noise removal
resize, save for web.

I voted on your image on the challenge, but then never looked at your notes to see where you took it.
But yesterday I drove across the Golden Gate Bridge and saw this view and immediately thought "Hey! That's where the fireworks picture was taken"
I tell you this because it is a compliment that I thought of your photo well over a month later. Shows you struck a chord with me with this image.

I still think this should have scored better... At least it was in the top 10.
If you don't mind some advice. The patch tool may have helped with your silhouette issues. It takes a little bit of work to create clean lines around the people, but is well worth it. I had to use it to clean up the guy in my pic. He had moved about 2/3 of the way through the exposure.

Hey, I just noticed... Congrats on your highest ranked picture!

Congrats on the good finish James. You should be proud of your shot as it captures more than just the fireworks!

I had this one pegged for a ribbon. Still did well, but should have done better.

I like the viewers in the foreground, the blur of their movements and the fireworks in the distance works really well!
