Ectoplasmic Manifestationby mefnjComment: Originally posted by gyaban: My favorite of the challenge. Great shapes, great colors, great expression. I wouldn't mind a tutorial, very curious about your technique! |
wow, that comment coming from you is quite an honor, as well as humbling.
the starter image was my face behind a block of glass, using an outtake from this entry a few years ago
i then just used Deep Dream Generator, an online photo editor that grew out of the artificial/computer vision field,
Deep Dream Generator
and using on of their "seed" textures until i got the result i wanted.
then i blended back the original image to get my eye back, and did a few other adjustments to strcuture, contrast, etc.
its a really fun process, and you can waste hours just experimenting |

Convergence by mefnjComment: thanks so much for the comments.
this was almost a fool the viewer redux... this is the top of a deer skull, close up on the bone plate fusion zones. it was a younger deer, so the fusions were no complete and fading. call it skull-techtonics ;-)
i believe the dendritic river-like features towards the edges are part lf the sinus/nasal drainage architecture, since they were associated with cavities, which i cropped off.
and the slight discoloration and few hairs did their part to give it an earthly look. |

Coming Apartby westfordComment: eek! there's a face in the bottom left "hole" that looks like the demon from Sinister. |
