Nice long exposure shot. Love that you got the steeple in with such nice detail. The color of the lights is gorgeous throughout and I like the movement shown by the exhaust from the smokestack. I think I would like a wider angle to get more of the building in at the left. Here is an example of the limits of the crop sensor camera. A full frame sensor at the same zoom length would have been awesome with 40% more frame space!!

I like the concept here and I just think it needs something else in the frame for balance... A truck off roading along the left path or a herd of animals on the left side... Something like that.

The tilt shift effect enhances the looking from above effect nicely. The transition from the in focus area to the blurred area at the top is rather abrupt and I wonder if using a gradient on your layer mask to make the blur a bit more gradual would have helped, as well as trying to include the man's feet too.

Love the shapes of the buildings. The light is great and the centrally located cloud seems to keep the buildings grouped together well. I think it could be a bit sharper and if you didn't do it, some lens correction could be added.

A wonderful scene and the people add interest. I kind of wish there were some elements closer in the foreground. The sky has an incredible amount of noise in it. High ISO during that time of day?

Greeting from the Comment Bomb Squad!

This is a shot that is underappreciated by the commenters and voters alike. The bulding has a striking shape and I love the crane on top as it takes your eye off of the building and into the sunset. But then the beautiful rays of light bring you rigt back on to the subject to complete the circle. The sky has great interest. I think you could have upped the light on the building face in PP to bring out some of those details where it is darkest. But above all the color, shape and beautiful light make this shot a winner!

I voted this a 9 in the challenge I know I was stricken by the colors! They shine through on this shot. The blue on green background in the front combined with the reds of the late sunset, it has the base colors RGB! The angle this was shot at gives the frontal view some perspective and the line of the clouds on the right takes you into the image. The background of the shot looses some detail in the upper windows, but the detail is all there in the foreground on the fountain.

'Tis beautiful.

Greetings from the Comment Bomb Squad!

I am just going through your portfolio stopping at some images that move me. I love shots of doors and your shot provides a wonderful mood with an excellent composition!

The lines leading to the door create a great focal point including the steps, the top of the kneewall next to the steps leading down, and the break in the wall exposing the block underneath leading up to the door. The color and tones combined with the textures of the masonry work and the diffuse, low contrast light work together to create a moody portrait of a lovely scene. The pop of color really helps to set the door off as the focal point.

Because this was entered in a color challenge, I am sure the DPC voters were expecting shiny, happy colors. However, this moody door shot scores high in my book!
