Beer looks delicious! I agree with you, the man does look very deep in thought. It makes you wonder what he is doing, thinking about and what he has in his bag?
Wide range of colours is definitely helping! Congrats on your second highest shot.

Moon through greenby shyamvssComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!

Hello there fellow Rebel XS user! Good job getting in the top 50% on your very first entry. Quite the feat! I placed in the bottom 30% on my first entry haha.
The abstract lines were very interesting, I see now they are a shrub, the only thing I don't like about them is that black triangle above the moon. It takes away from the moon a little and draws attention there. Even with shooting through a shrub you still had some good clarity on the moon. I gave this shot a 6 in voting and overall an excellent first entry!

Hahah well you were correct in your brown estimate, congratulations! When I saw this in voting I thought it was rather funny, caught me off guard after seeing so many moon pictures.
3.3 is harsh, I think it's due to that overblown spot, and maybe the lack of moon ;). I gave this a 5, reminds me of that one scene in Lady and the Tramp. Not calling you a tramp. Keep fighting the good fight.

Personally I'm not a big fan of flower photos, on this one though I rather like the wide range of colours and the water droplets forming. That being said I think you got hit hard for the simple reason of not having the moon as the main subject. To me this is more a flower shot. It's good for a flower contest but doesn't fit in so much with the moon theme. Good luck in the rest of 2010!

Another image of yours, this one is much more difficult to try to critique hehe.
What is there to even say about this picture? You placed 6th in a challenge with a lot of great entries, one of my favourites in the contest, and I'd have to say the best photo of a baby I've ever seen!
Everything is so perfect, but if there was one thing I would change it's that arm on the left behind the head. That's just a small nitpick though. Great job!

Full moon risingby MinsoPhotoComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!

I see you're a fellow Rebel XS user! There's very few of us around that submit to challenges. You received some good comments during and after the challenge. The composition is good, diagonal lines are always good. I've never taken any pictures of the moon so I can't really give any helpful advice as to camera settings or anything.
The only major thing bringing down your image is the black ring around the moon. It kind of gives it a fake feel, as if it's a shadow and the sky is a backdrop. Anyways I think without that ring and even if you kept the foreground more in a silhouette style you would have placed better in the moon challenge.

This is the comment I left during the challenge, and I still believe that the light at the bottom is the only thing that kept you from having a higher scoring entry. I do hope you continue to enter challenges, it's tough at first but little by little you learn more and improve, good luck!

Blue Moon (figuratively speaking)by ucanoeComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!

Some great detail in this shot! The craters near the top, and the lines all over the moon. I've taken an astronomy class but have since forgotten the name of them.
Anyways, I'm going to have to agree with the other commenters on this shot, its great but that frame hurts it. It's just too big. I gave you a 5 but had it not been for that frame it would have been a 6.

Morning moonby marvinComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
The thing that I notice right off the bat is the size, the size limit on images has been increased to 800x800 pixels maximum and 300kb size. I see that you only have two recent entries and more before the size update. I apologize if you already know of the size increase.
The foreground seems a bit blurry, but that might just be because of the darkness. I feel that there isn't anything interesting in this picture other than the moon, would have liked to see more of the moon and water with less land.
