I'm OK with all the comments, I guess I expected them. It's interesting that people think women will always get angry if someone takes an "unflattering" photo of them! I think that's actually what I really wanted to play with here, because the topic of "candid" is all about stripping away the artifice and getting to reality, and this kind of photo is as real as it can get for a woman. I got what I wanted, so I'm happy :)

As for people thinking I'm fat... well, I'm a short, top-heavy person and if you only see the top half I think it does make me seem larger than I am :). I'm not thin, that's for sure, but I like my body.

The composition of this photo is great! I love the giraffe stretching to reach the outstretched arm... great sense of tension. It's just a little bit glary and contrasty.

As an Australian, this photo has a deep impact on me (although the typo in the title is annoying!). I've walked around Sydney many times and this sight is very familiar. The black and white captures the grittiness of this scene beautifully. Well done. (lisae)

I LOVE this photo! It stood out from the thumbnails early on, and was the first one I looked at. Ordinarily that effect would make me give it a 10 straight away, I don't know why I waited :). It's so stark and contorted, the black and white is beautiful, I love that huge tongue under the white teeth and the flaring nostrils :). Well, it's taken a few days, but here's your 10 - lisae

There's something very effective and evocative about this image. It works well at using soft focus to create a sense of memory, and the real doll next to the photo shows the passage of time. It has a sense of something lost that can't be reclaimed.
