Nature's Alarm Clockby chickadeezlComment: I only have a very short time to score this category. I just wanted you to know that I scored this a 7, but as soon as I clicked the button to go to the next screen, this picture called me back. I'm moving it to a 9 just because it made me come back for a second look. Not many picture make you rethink yourself. |

Breaking the Sound Barrierby bicklevovComment: I think I would have liked this cropped in more. I really wanted to see the detail in the smoke, and the foreground and extra sky seem unnecessary. |

Speaker Coneby pheonix676Comment: I don't care for the shot, but I do appreciate the interesting angle of the shot. I rated it higher than I wanted to because of the angle. |

uuaa-uuaa-uuaa...by LevTComment: I'm sorry, I only have a limited time to judge and comment on this category, and unfortunately, I could be having an early senior moment, but I can't figure out what it is... I hope I have time to come back later and give it a second glance--but you might want to find a way to make it a little more recognizable on first glance. 4 |

w a i t i n gby JessiComment: I like this very much. I'm afraid that some people will look at the picture and wonder "silence?" But I hope they take in the whole thing, including the title. He's obviously waiting, and has been for awhile--with the snow gathering. He's not waiting with someone, moving and talking, or the snow and the hair would be more disturbed.
The only thing that might have made it better (for this category) is perhaps having him look over the photographers shoulder, or off more to the side, instead of directly at the camera. With him looking at the camera, it engages us, and we're part of the scene. He doesn't seem as alone (and silent) that way.
I still say--excellent shot - 8 |

Before it all Startsby raishComment: I'm sorry, I couldn't rate this very high, because it was so dark, and I couldn't tell what was in the picture... |

Before Talkiesby DCrest01Comment: I like the idea, but I'm afraid it didn't work for me--I remember these being so loud!! Now if the film had gotten all tangled up and wouldn't work anymore--no sound, period, I probably would have rated it very high. |

Death Without a Screamby Nathanael_GComment: I originally marked this low, because I was having a hard time with the flower pictures. They were pretty, but didn't say silence to me. A scene, like winter and a tree could work, because the scene could also be alive and loud with storms or wind. A flower is a flower.
that being said, I'm ranking it higher on second look, because you have made a point. flowers live and die without a sound. I'm leaving the other flower pictures as I originally rated them, because they didn't prove the point like you did. |
