Puberty

Puberty

Comment:
Although adolescents can certainly be moody, I don't believe that 'puberty' qualifies as a mood. A catchlight would have improved this image. As it is I can barely see a difference between his iris and his pupil.

This looks more like 'annoyed' than 'overwhelmed' to me.

Hymn To Joy

Comment:
The 'if George Lucas did stained glass windows' perspective doesn't really work for me. Because of the angle, most of the detail from the windows are so foreshortened that the figures are hard to make out. If you had softened the focus to make this look more abstract I think that I would have liked it better. Shooting something in the foreground (a praying nun, statue, crucifix, etc.) and letting the windows serve as the pallet for the resultant bokeh might have worked even better, as you'd both have a clear subject and still make good use of the colored glass.

This is a nice photograph, but I fail to see how it conveys a specific mood.

Comment:
Even if I considered hunger/desire for food to be a mood, this is still a stretch. The composition would have been stronger without the sink, coffee mug and whatever that brown thing in the bottom corner is.

I'm not usually too opinionated about borders, but I find this one very distracting because both the frosted edge and the red box occlude the subject matter.

The poses complement one another, but somehow this still feels too much like a snapshot to me.

The dark color of the lipstick and the conversion to B&W highlight your model's mouth, which doesn't seem to be her strongest attribute. The brim of her hat is pulled down too far for my tastes; I'd like to get a better view of her eyes. The catchlight does help to make her eyes stand out better.

Solitude

Comment:
Since this challenge used advanced editing rules, I probably would have cloned out the branch that's sticking out of the water just right of center. I like the image, but I'd describe the mood as "calm". Solitude, in my mind, implies that some animal or person should be here enjoying the calm.
