"Umm... Yeah, sure you can ride for free..."by jas0420Comment: Thanks everyone for the votes and kind comments left below...
For those who asked, this was taken with me on the ground, and the plane was just about leveled off from a banked turn as it passed in front of me. It was taken at Alliance Air Show in Fort Worth Texas, and the shot is of pilot Gene Soucy and his brave wing-walking accomplice, Teresa Stokes. I had been panning with the plane through its turn and I let the camera track it with its AI Servo focus mode. I was shooting handheld with a Sigma 50-500mm lens that was fully extended to the 500mm position. I was in Tv (shutter priority) mode and was shooting relatively slow (1/350ms) to get some blur in the prop. The plane just almost filled the frame as it was, so there was very little cropping on it.
This air show was my first outing with my 10Dâ€Â¦ It had just come in two days prior and it is my first venture into the exciting world of DSLR, so I had a pretty big learning curve that day! I had quite a few bad shots, but I walked away with a few decent ones too so overall I was pleased.
Thanks again everyone!
Jason

Untitledby tomlewis1980Comment: Normally the fact that part of the wing didn't make the shot would bug me a little, but not this time. This is a great picture all around. Good job! |

pollen......by undieyatchComment: This was a good idea, but if a person were to look at the pic alone without your title, I don't think "flight" would come to mind... Perhaps more of a macro/closeup shot of a flower and catching it in a breeze (or cheat and get someone to blow on it!) to stir up the polen and capture some of it airborn would work a little better here. |

Not an Eagleby ExcelsiorComment: I like the composition and framing, with the possible exception of the building in the lower right corner. It is just a touch too dark for me on the underside of the bird though, and detail is lost as a result. That said, I know how tough it is to get proper exposure on something against a bright sky like that! |

Pigeonsby rickhd13Comment: I like the idea... That's a LOT of birds! It is a little too overexposed for me though and a little too noisy/grainy where the clouds have parted and revealed the sky. |
