Visit Icelandby gsalComment: I'm not sure this works as well as it could and I'm not at all sure about the author's intent. As an image, it's nicely detailed, nicely composed and executed, but the point of a postcard image should be to entice the viewer into good and positive feeling about the location - this doesn't quite do it. I'm not at all sure about the meaning of the title as opposed to the image either - it seems to me to be a mixed message with the unhappy child. |

Wish you were hereby JC_HomolaComment: I like the intent and I very much like the font and the way it was handled - very effective and evocative. The DOF works against it as a "post card", but as an image, it's great. I really like the way the author handled the odd lighting - very effective exposure. It does the job in evoking an interest in the zoo. |

Mixed Emotionsby libertyComment: I'm not sure about the author's intent here - I think I know, but I'm not getting a real feel for it. As an image, it's very competant, DOF is well controlled and the subtle color mix is truly effective. I like the font, but there are problems with the drop/3D effects as parts of the individual letters disappear - particularly the M and N. This type of font works well with more contrasty backgrounds. I would mark this higher if I was sure of the author's intent. |

Zilker Botanical Gardensby JutildaComment: There is an interesting optical illusion here - I get the sense that the image is a trapazoid - it's not, but that's the illusion I get. The reason is that the title isn't level. The Austin, Texas is and that's why. Interesting effect - I have to remember that. I might have picked a little better subject than the one the author did, but the DOF control with the image is terrific. There are two ways this could have gone - I think you picked the correct concept, but the wrong subject. However, the font and font color matches the theme and overall tone of the image. |

South Africaby darnokComment: Another great image - the sky matching the water is a very nice touch and as a marketing image, it would work well as a post card - it's sharp and evokes a sense of peace and quiet. Not fond of the way the font and color were treated - I might have worked with a slightly different font other than block black. |

Welcome to New Yorkby Nikolai1024Comment: An iconic image of our nation and the City of New York. Not marred by font, the central theme of liberty stands out on it's own. Nothing technically wrong with the image, although I would have liked to see the background flag a little more as both are symbols of our nation and the city. Well done. |

Zaanse Schansby hajekaComment: A very nice image with great color tone - a little bit over sharpened. The font and color compliment the image in a subtle way. Very pleasing image to the eye with a few minor issues. Very nice. |

Siesta Key, Floridaby nidiciComment: I'll be the first to admit - I'm a font Nazi. :>) In this case, a good attempt was distorted by the mixed fonts. Pick one or the other or at least try to match them up a little better - the antique block doesn't fit well with the script. The script color works well (even though I'm not a fan of script in general), but the red doesn't match the overall color theme. I've been to Siesta Key and you're right - the fishing is fine. A nice effort, but flawed. |

partytimeby HeidieComment: I really like the idea. Very colorful, excellant skin tones, but (you knew there had to be) the execution is a little flawed. You might have done better bouncing the flash or using some back lighting because you have what appears to be a halo around the black shirt which can be indicative of over sharpening, but in this case it's a reflection off the wall. Same with the shadows on the hat. I like the way you tried to match the font with the hat - that was a good idea, but it didn't quite work out - I would have cloned out the little red dots. Nice capture - invokes a sense of fun. Nicely done. |

Philadelphiaby Joker1114Comment: This is going to sound really picky and trite, but this could be any center city shot in the North East in Winter. The eye is drawn to the sky scrapers which you can see anywhere. I might have picked something a little more iconic of Philly - like Geno's. :>) Froma technical standpoint, it's a good image, but fairly generic. The font is fine, but also generic. |
