Simple and complex it can be quote beautiful and very scary at the same time. Excellant tonal control evoking many emotions and all are based on the texture surrounding the ethereal face. Well done and a worthy contender for a ribbon in this challenge.

A terrific concept and nicely executed. The numerous shades of red blending to yellow give this a pleasant feeling. The detail of the charcoaled wood is pleasing, but not detailed enough to overpower the overall impression of heat and warmth. As a texture image, it works, but under whelming in detail. A good effort though worthy of a good score.

This would have been perfect if only the hiker were absent from the scene. The hiker adds nothing to the soft glow of the image and draws the eye away from the gentle curves with their subtle shades of color. Very unfortunate.

A little better control of the DOF would have made this a ribbon contender. The excellant flow of the curved and figured wood is lost much too quickly to be effective. A great concept lacking in execution.

A refreshing look at texture in a very abstract way. Simple, yet complex at the same time. Interesting DOF control - very effective.

Only the lower 25% could be considerd "texture" in a strict interpretation as the DOF is slightly overdone. A slightly taller angle would have given better control of DOF imparting a better sense of detail fulfilling the theme of the challenge. Having said that, the overall color tone control is excellant with subtle shade differences that are very hard to pull off with success and the author has done well in this area. A good effort.

Elegant in it's simplicity with an abstract minimalist appeal. The whites are well controlled against the beige background and the offset window placement showing no detail except for the frame is inspired. An excellant effort and worth of ribbon contention.

Dramatic, crisp and very detailing until the eye where is loses detail due to lighting issues. The grain effect is well controlled and enhances the image positively. While there is a lot of detail, it doesn't quite evoke the texture concept as well as it might - as an fauna image, it's excellant.

Two ways of looking at this - in both cases it's a excellant image. If it didn't have the DOF fade, it might have had more impact visually, but as it stands the foreground details are sharp and crisp wtih interesting shapes and colors blending into a sort of phantasia of pleasing contours. A contender for a top ten score if not higher.

A good abstract containg various elements of texture and color. The odd lighting helps the image, but would have been more effective if the darker circle surrounding the central area had been carried through to the bottom of the image. An appearance of a sharp image with soft focus which is interesting. A good solid effort at examining texture and color.
