Good color control which blend well together. The reversal of DOF is interesting and gives a left-to-right impression. The water drops aren't as effective as they should be because of the odd focusing. It might have been more interesting if the author could have done from smaller drops to larger or vice versa. A good image though and a solid effort evoking the theme of texture very well.

Elegant in it's simplicity and the use of single color and shade make this a provocative image in a love it or hate it fashion. The use of water as texture provides an abstract feel to the image with the subtle shadows in the background providing some dimensionality. A good solid effort.

Very good use of offset subject and blended DOF background. Good contrast on the flower and very interesting color difference between the background and foreground. Good detail, but it falls just a little short of demonstrating texture as a concept.

Rough Path

This would have worked much better with a sharper foreground fading to the background. The background needs less detail to be truly effective. A nice low level angle and a very good concept less than expertly executed. Average for this competition which has been excellant so far.

Weathered and Bearded

Excellant detail from top to bottom, the candid portrait of the bearded subject demonstrates that there is more to visual impact than just impression. The texture of the beard, jacket and flag are perfect. The DOF is detailed, but in an appropriate fashion. The hat is incredible - detailed, but not overly so creating a positive impression. A worthy competitor for a top ten finish and most certainly a worthy ribbon contender.

Excellant grayscale control and very effective use of lighting. Subtle without being overly subtle, detailed yet not excessively detailed. One would be hard pressed to find a flaw in this image - but there is one not worthy of mentioning. A worth top ten contender and a possible ribbon winner.

"Marble" a metamorphic rock

Effective use of lighting, but the central part of the image has much better grayscale tone than the rest. It's very detailed, but in a unbusy way which is very effective. It's a well composed and framed image with sharp detail giving an impression of texture in a unique way.

Particle Me

A great demonstration of an everyday object that is ordinarily overlooked. It's much too busy to leave a totally positive impression, but as a out of the oridinary look into the ordinary, it works well.

Its Bark Is Worse Than Its Bite

Very abstract in concept and execution, but a little too busy to be truly effective. The amount of detail overwhelms the visual senses creating a discomforting visual. In a larger format or with a little longer focal length this would have worked much better as the details would have blended more creating a more favorable impression.

Eye See You

It could have been very easy to blow out the colors and over do the impression, but this is spectacular in concept and execution. A scene not normally thought of - unigue and indicative of a well thought out image. This could very easily be a National Geographic image and something I've never quite seen before. Excellant and a worthy ribbon contender.
