Red Hot, Silky Smoothby csickComment: A simple image which is quite beautiful with soft gentle curves, sweeping undulations and excellant color tone control. Very effective and has a lot of visual impact immediately on viewing. A worthy contender and an almost certain top ten contender. |

Those Peelin' Red Bluesby surlybiffComment: Elegant and simple, the angled door with both smooth and rough texture along with the door knockers work very well. An above average entry in the challenge well constructed and composed. Well done. |

Cement Manby ProdigalMedicComment: This would have been more effective if there were more cement on the trowel, but the author may have intended a different approach contrasting the smooth nature of the work gloves as opposed to the cleaning tool and background. If so, it works. |

Rusticby rob_smithComment: If the foreground had been in focus with a drop off to the back or vice versa or from right to left or left to right this would have been a stunning image and would have effectively demonstrated man made texture. A good concept with a flawed execution. Having said that, it still works well and should score higher than average. |

Truss & Treenailsby DJWoodwardComment: Beautiful and provacative the simple elegance is a plus in demonstrating texture. An added bonus is the figured raised wood grain which expertly compliments the subject matter of the challenge. A perfectly executed composition properly framed with pleasing angles in addition. A worthy ribbon contender and certainly a top ten. Well done. |

Voluptuous Flowery Textureby miaryComment: An apt title matches the imagery demonstrated here. A sound example of texture balanced with color. The choice of focal length and aperature is excellant. The soft focus enhances the overall effect and does not over reach with respect to the challenge subject. Well done. |

- GRIN - by andrewtComment: If this had been cropped to just below the forelegs, it would have been perfect and a terrific demonstration of texture in the natural world. As it is it works very well and is an effective and provacative image. Well done. |

Où est le chocolat ?by LonzComment: A good effort demonstrating texture in the natural world. The author's choice of lighting the subject was good, but a little more intense than necessary leading to a minor reflection onto the surface. There is also a slight slight green cast line in the foreground which can't be explained easily by viewing. The little white blooms aren't a negative, but it would have helped to use a softer light. The deep shade could have been effective if all the other factors mentioned were fixed. |
