A clever idea and a technical success, it's less than successful in an artistic sense. DOF control is excellant and the lighting isn't over done creating blooms with the whites right on the edge. The subject is less than interesting. Perhaps a different background with a slightly different angle would have helped. A little more thought and better framing would have brought the rating higher.

Spectackulous

A terrific image, but to this reviewer, the image seems to be much to subtle with respect to the challenge subject. However, it does contain tacks and the tacks, while underdone and understated, enhance the image but more in the respect of adding color and not necessarily detail as they get lost in the background. A technical success, but lacking that same success from an artistic standpoint. In a different challenge, it would be great.

How Tacky

Another image that on first pass, was rated lower than it should have been. The general understated tone and subtle color stand out during the comment phase. Originally rated a seven because of it's technical merit, the image has been rerated to a nine because of it's subtle and simple nature. Well done.

Fall in Line!

While the image is a technical success, it lacks interest and does not achieve a high level of artistic success. Perhaps a different angle would have helped or a little different background color. This just doesn't want to be viewed again and again. Otherwise, it's a solid entry into the challange.

Lost-a-Tack!

Sometimes an image can be much too subtle do be truly effective - as it does in this case. At first, the impression was that the image was a true DNMC, but on comment review, the subject was finally found. From a technical standpoint, this is a purely technical success and in another setting would be a terrific image, but to meet this challenge, this reviewer feels that hunting for the title subject is a major flaw. Perhaps a more central focus on the subject matter (meaning that it would be less offset) would have been a much better approach.

A idea that this reviewer would have thought to see more of, this image is less than successful in both the artistic and technical sense. Frankly, the image is less than interesting due to the overwhelming setting.. Perhaps a different background with a slightly different angle would have helped. A little more thought, tighter focal length and better focus would have brought the rating higher.
