A marginal technical success, it's less than successful in an artistic sense. The lighting isn't over done creating blooms, but the oversharpening is a definite negative. The subject is less than interesting. Perhaps a different background with a slightly different angle would have helped. A little more thought and better framing would have brought the rating higher.

One of the problems when reviewing images in competitions is that every once in a while, an image pops up that is anethema to the reviewer. This reviewer wasn't all that impressed with this image the first time around, but to be truthful, it goes against the grain in a personal way. When viewed just for it's technical and artistsic merits, this is a great image with all aspects both technically and artistically well controlled. Having said that, this reviewer still wants to rate this as low as possible, but given that its technically an excellant example of staging a image and executing it perfectly, even though the image is repellant in ways one cannot express properly, this reviewer is rerating the image from it's original 6 to a 9.

Perhaps a different background with a slightly different angle would have helped and/or a preset focus or longer focal length would have helped. Another injustice done to a fine image, this reviewer messed up the first run through while rating and rated this much to low and apologises to the author for doing so. Both an artistsic and technical success, this image was rated a seven and has been rerated to a nine.
