End of the Lineby Bear_MusicComment: From a technical standpoint, this is a terrific effort - crisp, sharp with everything detail well controlled and captured. From an artistic standpoint it appears to be slightly over saturated, but isn't. A worthy entry into the challenge and directly related to the challenge subject. A good effort and if the saturation was turned down just a little, it would have been near perfect. The author might want to experiment with this image a little by giving it a black and white conversion and playing with curves or tone mapping to give it a different look for entry into print competitions. |

'Yard' Workby CEJComment: From a technical standpoint, this is a terrific effort - crisp, sharp with everything detail well controlled and captured. From an artistic standpoint, it's rather bland and uninviting to the viewer. Sometimes an image, even one as technically competant as this one is, is just an image. A worthy entry into the challenge and directly related to the challenge subject. A good effort falling short in the artistic sense. |

The Great Western Railroad by MAKComment: An effective and well thought out image - lighting is well controlled, color and saturation are very effective and the overall impression is positive. However, it's not particularly unique and the unfortunate cut off of the engine on the right side of the image is a irritant and flaws an otherwise excellant entry. |

Midnight Expressby ConnorComment: Very effective use of lighting to create a halo effect around the engine which is simply so unusual that it is remarkable. The author had a good eye for composition and used it to good effect. Sometimes it's better not to say anything and just compliment the author on a solid effort and a complete technical and artistic success. Well done. |

SP&S Ry.by ace flymanComment: The temptation to over do the SFx with the negative/infrared conversion was totally avoided making for a very effective and impressive image. Stunning from a visual standpoint, it is both an artistic and technical successs - a very good use of post-processing tools and not over done in any sense of the word. Well done - a top ten contender. |

Spending Timeby LydiaComment: Simple, beautiful and elegant. The slightly overdone rail highlights are a minor flaw not noticable until the viewer really looks closely. Very effective use of monotone to create a sense of times past. Very well done and should be a top ten entry. |

Back to the Futureby arminComment: A technical and artistic success, this image falls just short of being perfect - a crisper image would have been a plus as the slight soft focus, while completely acceptable, does not invite closer inspection. The monotone treatment, while acceptable, could be a little denser. Overall, a great composition and very pleasing from an esthetic sense. |

Help! Dudley Do-Right! Help!by EstimatedEyesComment: A very unique entry into the challenge with a very different viewpoint. The subtle angle adds a lot to the drama of the image and is a technical and artistic success. This image works on several levels and the dramatic sky just enhances the overall effect. Well thought out and composed, it should be an example of "how to". One minor flaw that might be generally missed is that the image is just a touch over sharpened, but it's not immediately noticable and really requires a close and over critical look. This should be a top ten and almost certainly a ribbon winner. Well done. |
