An image that directly meets the challenge, the author used the available light source to create a halo effect against the darker model. A good effort which could have used a little better treatment by adjusting the angle and cropping the bottom off the image.

Sometimes an image is just an image - More an image of the use of lighting than a creative use of lighting. It's hard to rate this because of it's nature. It might have been a better approach to find a subject and then use the lighting to create the image rather than of the light itself.

A different approach to lighting a still life which isn't as effective as it might have been. The angle at which the image was taken is not the best and the subjects are just plain and uninteresting. Sometimes an image is just an image. A more interesting approach might have been to bounce light off the mirror to create some intersting halos, reflections, etc.

It's a hard subject challenge and this reviewer is having just as hard of a time properly rating images in the challenge. Having said all that however, this is a spectacular image and in any other setting and/or challenge would be a sure top ten image - it's spectacular, well controlled and very dramatic.

A very effective use of spot lighting to create a provocative and appealing image. A terrific demonstration on the creative use of lighting to highlight and enhance a subject without being totally obvious or over powering the subject matter. One of the best images in the challenge so far and should be placed high enough for a ribbon. Well done.

A derivitive image, it might have been better to crop the city from the image and use the reflection on the water as an entry and a demonstration of the use of light rather than a picture of light. It's a hard subject challenge and this reviewer is having just as hard of a time properly rating images in the challenge. Having said all that however, this is a spectacular image and in any other setting and/or challenge would be a sure top ten image - it's spectacular, well controlled and very dramatic.
