A naturalists delight, this is a very effective image - one that is very worthy of a NatGeo photo shoot. The artistic impact is very impressive - the sense of curiosity in the snake is almost palpable. The nicely detailed head is exquisite and demonstrates the various ways Mother Nature gives her creatures character. A very effective image that may not be to everyone's taste. Well done.

A good solid image that is properly framed and composed. From an artistic standpoint, it is an intersting image but of less than universal appeal. A little more tracking would have increased it's interest factor in particular if the author could have pulled off a properly focused subject with motion in the foreground and background.

A good solid image that is properly framed and composed there appears to be a little less focused than it should be. The greens are properly controlled which is always a problem for digital cameras. A little wider look at this scene would have helped the focusing issue and/or a higher ISO with a wider aperature. From an artistic standpoint, it is an intersting image but of less than universal appeal. A good entry into the challenge.

A good solid image that is properly framed and composed although it could be a little lighter exposure. The image also suffers from the "tunnel" macro effect - meaning that the center of the image is in focus, but the foreground and background have DOF problems. From an artistic standpoint, it is an intersting image but of less than universal appeal. A good entry into the challenge.
