Desert for Oneby TallPaulComment: Little issues like the spoon fading into the plate and the rather drastic white to red comparison effect this image in a negative way. While technically sufficient, it's artistic impression is less than perfect. A suggestion would have been to take a longer look at this image, less light to enhance the silver settings which would have brought the complimentary details of the plate edge into the image - the fade isn't as effective in this image as it is in others. A little higher angle would have helped as well. A good effort with some minor issues that effect the image as a whole. |

Vacation Viewby scooter88Comment: While a technical success, from an artistic standpoint, this image fails to impress. It is properly framed and composed, there just isn't anything to really impress the viewer on first review and this carried over to rating and comment review. A good concept which might have been improved by being a little smaller with a closer look at the subject rather than the landscape. Too much space would be another way to put it. |

• T U R B A N • (Alien Vegetable Series, #3)by Bear_MusicComment: When first viewed, the immediate reaction was "how was this done" as it appeared to be floating in space. A terrific impression was immediately made even with the technical issues such as being overly dark with some vague details at the top and bottom. None the less, it came across as very inventive and clever imagery - the author obviously had a good eye for the unusual. The overall effect is positive even with the less than perfect technical issues - artistically, it's a great capture. Well done. |

Sunflowers on a Tableby banmornComment: It seems to be the season of minimalist imagery at DPC and this is a good representation of the genre. From a technical perspective, the image is slightly under exposed which is a negative - a little more light on the subject to bring out some detail in the vase would have been a huge plus. On the other hand, the greens are controlled which is difficult in digital cameras. Artistically, even with the minor technical issues, it is a terrific image - subtle and yet powerful - pleasing to look at without being over whelming. Well done. |

What?by srdanzComment: A candid portrait and effective presentation just slightly marred by some unfortunate highlights in the teeth and eyes akin to hot pixels. Nicely controlled overall (with the exceptions noted) with good use of DOF (which is not over done). While of snap shot quality from an artistic sense, it does match the challenge criteria. Very nice capture. |

Card Tableby Dano6Comment: An excellant candid moment - crisp and sharp conveying the every day in a single point in time. An image that demonstrates how to use an interesting angle and DOF to present a singular slice of time and space. Well done. |

The last shotby redpandaComment: Normally, I like to keep things strictly neutral and use the third person voice to express an opinion. I can't here - this is another unbelievably laugh out loud moment (the second in this callenge) and one that brought me smiles and laughter. Humor is always appreciated and when accompanied by a very effective image both from a technical and artistic standpoint, makes the rating and review process fun. A favorite so far in this challenge. |

lowby timfythetooComment: Very effective on an emotional level. Just shy of depressing, it effectively demonstrates low points in everyone's life - very comtemplative imagery. A competant technical and artistic success, it does it's job with relation to it's title. The author should be congratulated on presenting a side of live not often seen. Well done. |

A-tackedby GabrielComment: Very pleasing color cast to this image and the gentle fade into the background demonstrates good use of DOF. Technically, it is a good image with nothing over done or out of sorts. From an artistic standpoint, it lacks pop or wow factor. A little lower angle might have helped the artistic interest level presenting a forest of tacks effect. |

Set the Tableby sfaliceComment: There is a very interesting effect that may have been missed. On the last tine of the center fork, there is a sort of "devil's tuning fork" illusion in which there are two tines as a trick of light. It might have been an interesting experiment to see if that effect could also be duplicated on the right side of the center fork which would have made is a true impossible object - it's pretty good as it is. Another interesting approach would have been to use a more reflective surface. If the author is so inclined, experimentation with bringing out the shadows might be fun and produce a really interesting image. A good solid entry into the challenge. |
