Golden Ropeby agwrightComment: Nice closeup of the rope. You can see the individual weave of the each strand. The highlights helps to give a sense of the smoothness of the strands themselves. Would like to see a bit more shadow to really make it pop. Maybe try lighting from a more extreme angle. |

Three of choiceby heidaComment: Beautiful landscape shot. Composition is interesting with the land and the beautiful reflections in the water. The hues in the sky is great. A tiny bit of cropping on the bottom of the shot would help to make for a better composition. A tiny bit of dodging on the left to bring out some of the rocks to equal the lighting on the ones on the right would give a better feeling. "9" |

Mysteriousby crabappl3Comment: The fans with it's diagonal placement help to frame the face and puts focus on the eyes. The desaturated image except for the beautiful blue hue in the eyes really makes this interesting. The depth of field and focus on the eyes also helps. The only change I would make here is to use a fan without the flower pattern. it kinds of takes a little away from the eyes and a tiny bit distracting. "9" |

Teapotby maelmsComment: The hard lighting really emphasizes the beautiful curves in the teapot. The lighting of the subject from underneath really gives a dramatic feeling to the composition. The reflections of the spout and the handle makes you feel the smooth surface of the teapot. "10" |

5by Spork99Comment: Simple subject. Very good lighting gives a beautiful shadow to the indention of the 5 and really makes it pop out of the shot. Great texture captured on the weight. I like that you were decided to include a portion of the roundness of the weight. I think this shot would've done very well in the texture challenge. "10" |

Traditional Jewlery (Bone carving)by aKiwiComment: I like how you get the feeling of the fibers in the wooden weaved background. Subtle shadows on the fibers really bring them out. The diagonal shapes helps to bring focus on the jewelry by pointing to them. The carved subject gives a feeling of polished smoothness. Very nice curved shape.
looks like you may have used a white and yellowish lighting. Seems to have a yellowish hue on the subject and takes away from the interest. Maybe retaking with a different lighting angle would give a better effect. "9" |

Flower Textureby rj324Comment: Beautiful lighting was used to bring out the textures of the yellow petals. You can almost feel the soft textures of the petals themselves. I like how the stem has a texture that is so different from the petals. Almost a hairy, furry feeling to them. "10" |

Rust and dustby mijakComment: Beautiful closeup of the nut. Definitely get the feeling of texture that you were able to capture in this composition. The rust, dust, spider web can almost be felt by reaching out. The dark black background really helps to bring out the abstract shapes that you captured.
Only thing to add is maybe cropping out the bright highlight under the bolt and nut. "10" |

Paperby CountComment: The super shallow depth of field doesn't do justice. You can see a slight band of texture but not enough to really give you the feeling of it. Maybe using less light to give the surface some shadow would really make it pop and a less shallow view. |

falling lightby f0rTyLeGzComment: Great sunset shot. The composition is quite interesting with the rays of sunlight shining through the clouds. Very difficult shot to get correct. You were able to pull it off. Would like to see a smaller frame. Currently the large black frame dominates the photo. With a nice shot you don't want to overwelm with a huge frame. |
