Reflectionsby ThingFishComment by srdanz: Cliche perhaps, but this would have matched the challenge much better if you actually flipped it. The ripples are negligent yet present enough to let the viewer see the 'upside down'. Still, the bottom half of the image IS upside down, so big props. 9. |

Aloes with a viewby ThingFishComment by Bear_Music: Voted earlier, returning to comment. This is a well-constructed image from a technical perspective and it's pleasing enough to look at, but in the end I can't feel a lot of love for it. This is partly because the image is very "flat" from a lighting perspective, which is of course unavoidable given the overcast sky, but it's not the best way to create a free-study image that will compete well against all the striking images that get entered. Arguably, if you'd processed more weight into the sky and did a radial vignette to subtly darken the image as we move away from the aloe plant you'd pick up a better score. In any case, I gave it a 6 and would expect it to finish in the 5.7-6.0 range. |

This is what you posted on the score thread.
Either you got the statistics wrong or you had a huge rise at the end :-) |

There are things known and there are things unknownby ThingFishComment by streetpigeon: On the get-go, this incredible blue is peacock intense, from hereon in my standrd for paradise. Inwardly I'm vibrating, outwardly sweating cannonballs. To reluctantly go on, the entire construction puts palaces to shame. Oh the rust, shedding blue for a brown whose shade I can't determine, perhaps "life-giving," sumptuous and deep as it is. Earth and sky. Is the white an undercoat or moonlight? Is it superficial to luxuriate and steep in such color? Maybe, but it certainly thrills and uplifts me, invites simple exultation. Handsomely framed on three sides by greenery. Hang out here and forget your cares, dream anew. Nice title.
Thank you. |
