how on earth were you in exactly the right place at the right time ..

also those feathers are most unusual .. they looked almost unnatural ..
so i googled it ..

Ostriches have unique feathers that are loose, soft, and smooth, giving them a "shaggy" look.

Looks like a beautiful area to hike around and enjoy the beach. I would enjoy seeing a panorama of the area to see more of the landscape. I am not very good at landscape photography so I can't offer any technical advice but I can see why you chose this scene to submit in a challenge.

Lovely portrait with very genuine smile. It could've easily been a ribbon but what brought the score down a bit, I think, is that her heir is completely submerged in the black background, not a hint of separation. Just a little bit of light on the background or a rim light on her hair (for example, something white on the left reflecting the light back on her) would've made a big difference
