The first cruise ship in nearly 40 years, bringing American tourists, has just arrived in Cuba. Tourism is going to be huge business and I̢۪m afraid things will never be the same. You are lucky to have visited Cuba before these impending changes happen.

You̢۪ve captured some lovely candids and portraits of the Cuban people . That being said, as a collection, I don̢۪t feel relationships from one image to the next. The sum of the parts isn̢۪t significantly stronger than the individual pieces. I believe concentrating on something more specific would make this a stronger essay.

Thank you very much Henry for this detailed view.
I relish your approval on subject and quality and I agree about the number of pictures in an essay. You're right: it's hard to sort out... but it's necessary to get a stronger collection.
(Thats why I enjoyed DPL so much - there were my teammates who I could ask about their opinions before submitting)

A trip to the flea market, where one man̢۪s junk is another man̢۪s treasure. This reminds me of the weekend flea markets around here. As is, refurbished and repurposed items for sale. Time almost stops while observing folks flip through old records or study a table covered in dishes. With your essay you̢۪ve shown the flea markets is as much about people as merchandize. In developed countries we just don̢۪t shop this way anymore. We purchase online and have it delivered to our front door. When something isn̢۪t useful it̢۪s discarded, traded in, or recycled.

Technically your photographs are very good. The only change I̢۪d make is to trim your essay to 16 images or less. What to keep and discard is always a difficult decision. Removing one image can change the entire story. When each image becomes this important you are getting close. I received this same critique a while back and found it very helpful. Thanks for sharing this collection with us.
