There is a certain softness to the pic, definetly a litte more sharpness to the eys would have helped
I realy do not think you did bad at all with this
I lack photoshop skilles some have in here but am trying to learn more I think with a little more time on this you could realy present it better

Ah... Santa for 2008! They grow fast don't they :P Very nice baby portrait. i think my only concern here is the focusing. If those eyes would be shiny as glass, and bit less light, and a bit darker framing around... I can see it, much better points :)
