Loving Wifeby bfurnerComment by Adamsw216: Nice idea. I'm sure this looked better at a higher resolution. The door is really throwing me off of the composition, though. The strong one-point perspective lines of the door contrast with the more linear aspects of the focal point and throw me off balance. |

Tropicana Terrorby bfurnerComment by klstover: **Critique Club Comment**
Aaahhh. Very effective, I must say! In fact if I might venture a guess as to the thoughts behind the voting, you may have gotten so many 1s due to the shock factor. And the shock factor is not a bad thing as you really did accomplish what you were going for. What I think would improve the photo is better lighting (the shadow in front distracts somewhat), eliminating the distractions in the background (the right and the upper left), and composition (showing your entire subject can be important). These three elements are very important in photos - consistant lighting, clean backgrounds, and non-cut-off subjects are sort of "rules" of photography, by which I mean that if they're done "wrongly", it can be good as long as there is a reason for it (and I don't see a reason in your photo). Again, great job on the blood... it really does look real... you should definitely think about trying a horror challenge if one comes along! |

Frosty the Widowby bfurnerComment by jeger: Greetings from the Critique Club...
I was not able to vote on this challenge, but if I had, I probably would have given you a 6.
I think you did a great job considering it wasn't packing snow. You must have magic hands. My first constructive criticism would be that since this photo was taken for a "before & after" challenge, it might make a little more sense to have the full snowman on the left, and the melted snowman on the right, as we generally read from left to right. I love the contrast of the white snow people against the black background. This image might benefit from a little more brightness overall, as the details for the melted snowman are a little difficult to see. My last comment would be that the reflection of the full snow man is a little distracting because it is almost a whole reflection, but not quite. I would either crop the image so that only a small portion of the reflection shows, or crop it so that the entire reflection shows. I think that would strengthen the photo a little bit more. Overall, very comical shot.
If you need any clarification on any of my comments, please feel free to pm me. It might take some time for me to get back to you. |
