Duotone or Bustby robineggComment by salmiakki: Greetings from the Critique Club
I think you did pretty well considering it's your first day with the D700. Usually takes a few days to get the feel of a new camera (at least I find it so). You scored pretty well with this image, so well done. Interesting to note you did not receive any ones or twos, congrats, that doesn't happen often.
The diagonal composition works extremely well for this subject. The duotone conversion is also very well done. I wonder how it would look with the focus on the front bust rather than the middle one? Don't know if it would have helped your score at all. I actually really like it as it is. I didn't vote in this challenge, but would have likely given it a 7.
Have to add the title was really good too!

Duotone or Bustby robineggComment by Jutilda: LOL You're funny. I'm thinking I might've liked the one in front to be in focus. Not sure. I still like it. |

Finally... A Day Without Rainby robineggComment by robinegg: Thanks for the comments. This was my first time posting to the site and I was not sure of the size - I was just trying to follow the rules and keep the image as high quality as possible but in the size limits.
If I had straightened the tower, the horizon would have been off. I'm not sure if the lighthouse leans a little or if it was my angle?
Thanks again for the comments. I look forward to submitting more pictures! |

Finally... A Day Without Rainby robineggComment by macrothing: I gave this an 8, mainly because I think this size doesn't do this justice. Perhaps a whisker up on the right to straighten (reflection seems slightly off anyway) and some tweaking in post processing to bring the colors to life more, maybe a little selective sharpening of the fore - that and 720 might have given this an edge. |
