Keean first Christmasby kimberlyMaiComment by grahamgator: A moment to cherish and you captured it well; such a cutie. I have one of my daughter at this age in a Santa suit and it has always been one of my favorites. (voted earlier) |

White Wedding(Paper Dress)by kimberlyMaiComment by snaffles: Greetings from the Critique Club!
So we meet again Kimberly...muwahahahahaaaa...;-) Very cute and funny idea, and it works very well in b/w. I'm not so sure about the 'scarf', I feel it disengages your head and body; maybe doing a veil instead, either just in front of your face or hanging down behind and ofsetting your hair, may have worked and given more of a feeling that says 'bridal'. A little puzzled by the umbrella but maybe it was going to rain and your dress would disintegrate? :-) The angle works though and echoes that of your head so can't complain too much. I'd have liked to see the back of your closer hand in focus and you a few more feet forward away from the basement wall but that's being nitpicky. Did you try to bounce a strobe off the ceiling to knock out the shadows being cast upwards? A suspended piece of foamcore would take care of that.
It's always a pleasure to critique your images, Kimberly, keep up the good work!
Feel free to PM me,

The foolby kimberlyMaiComment by snaffles: Greetings from the Critique Club!
For some reason this image brings Cher's song, 'Dark Lady' to mind. But then, I have a weird mind :-)
I don't have problems with the three candles vs you in terms of balance, and I like the crop and the comp. The tarot card seems to do a handy job of helping add balance imho. Facial expression and body language is fine and I have no lighting issues. But what really seems freaky to me is the positioning of your arms - I'm having trouble discerning which is which! It looks like the left one is by your face and the right one is holding the card.
So it may have been that, and the way you're leaning more into frame than being encompassed by it, that turned voters off. And it's not edited up the wazoo, which does seem to be expected for Expert...more the pity :-/
Still, you seem to be enjoying yourself with entering challenges, so why stop? Just keep on having fun and let the cards err, votes fall as they may.
Feel free to PM me,
Susan |
