Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.

This is one of my 8s - I like it. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. What a compelling portrait - a character study if even I saw one.

2. There's more than a portrait here - a segment of life laid out.

3. The tones have a journalistic quality that I enjoy.

4. Bold composition, subjugating the portrait element.

Overall, a powerful image.

Not sure why so many have made their B&W so dark. I think this would have been better brighter. Just my opinion that darker doesn't necessarily create more mood. Still I do like this photo alot.
