Xiang Wei, I find your work awesome. Also I find it extraordinary the fact that you live and photograph in an area so close to where I come from... while I live and photograph somewhere where I assume you come from...

What I like - slice of life, lots to look at, interesting
What I don't like - B&W seems a bit dull, needs more contrast |

This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)
Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.
This is one of my 8s - I like it. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:
1. What a compelling portrait - a character study if even I saw one.
2. There's more than a portrait here - a segment of life laid out.
3. The tones have a journalistic quality that I enjoy.
4. Bold composition, subjugating the portrait element.
Overall, a powerful image. |
