About a Roma Boyby IraklisComment by posthumous: "Hey, kid, where did you get all these clothes?"
"Five dollar! Everything five dollar!"
"This shirt says 'Marco' on it. Who's Marco?"
"Five dollar, it's yours not Marco. Five dollar!"
"Where are your parents?"
The kid hissed. His parents needed five dollars, not questions. They were so close to having train fare for the three of them, but all of the decent clothes had been sold, and he couldn't "find" any more until it was dark.
"Can you sing?" asked an old white lady.
"Five dollar!"
She handed him the money. "Do you know any Italian songs?"
He was so happy that he was already singing.
I was born in Dixie in a boomer shed
Just a little shanty by the railroad track
Freight train was it taught me how to cry
The holler of the driver was my lullaby
I got the freight train blues
Oh Lord mama, I got them in the bottom of my rambling shoes
And when the whistle blows I gotta go baby, don't you know
Well, it looks like I'm never gonna lose the freight train blues. |

Vegetable Marketby IraklisComment by BAMartin: This is one of those shots that needs to be studied for a long time. There is so much to see here. The business does not distract, but rather becomes the subject. |

eugsteambwDP.jpgby IraklisComment by ErikV: Really like that you depict the steam so well -- converts an ordinary kitchen scene into something a whole lot more interesting. |

Commutingby IraklisComment by Alicia: I've been looking at your portfolio and you have an excellent eye.
Regarding the blown out portion of the photo... I feel in general, yes, one should avoid that. However, In this image, which is so real and gritty, it does not detract or take away from the excellence of the portrait.
If you notice, there's a diagonal line from the top right to the bottom left, and the man is in that line. So the eye does not go to the blown out window (unless one doesn't have an eye at all), but instead right to the face.
My point for this long post - some rules are meant to be broken, and some broken rules add to the character and quality of the photo, as in this case. I gave it an 8. |
