Despite interesting and artistic composition, this suffers from excessive darkness in comparison to entries with white background. For this challenge, brighter exposure would have helped a lot.

Subject happens to be lighter than the background. That is not what the challenge required.

6 for excellence, but different lighting (read backlighting through the paper) could have easily driven this to an 8 or 9.)

Fabulous lighting, color and detail in this floral shot. Love the glow on the background for it makes the orchid glow; thus taking center stage. The teardrop coming off center petal is that little extra detail that makes this floral shot stand out.

Please forgive me, please! The challenge is "A WHITE Background". You have opted for shades of gray. The BEST of the best and I can not give it a 10! Sure a 10 in any other challenge, but not where there is a very clear, specific and direct instruction. It breaks my heart. Using my discretion I rated all the images with mixed/colored/dark whatever backgrounds a lowish score. Yours I just can not. But I also can not give it the 10 it so richly deserves.
