Macro Day 10by socalsteveComment by kteach: A speckled jelly bean with a crack in the top... maybe with a light behind it? I'm not sure that JR meant that you used unsharp, but perhaps he just meant an unsharp (i.e. blurry) macro. There doesn't seem to be much in focus here. |

I'm coming up to speed on the whole PP in photoshop thing - how did you tell I used unsharp? |

Macro Day 9by socalsteveComment by bjoern: I think the blur toward the edges adds some interest to the picture - if it were all in focus I think the picture would be boring. |

Thanks! Tamron 200-500 for Nikon. Message edited by author 2008-03-10 10:14:59. |

Macro Day 1by socalsteveComment by socalsteve: Originally posted by Arcanist: Not a fan of this image. Don't like the subject, lighting, crop or background. Well, not for a challenge at least. For the side-chall, it is a great subject to learn from.
Excellent focus and very, very impressed with the lack of ISO noise on a long exposure ISO 800 image! Are you using the High ISO noise reduction/Long Exp NR that's built in or are you using a neat image software? (Curious minds who use the same Nik and Lens want to know!) |
I don't recall if I used any NR software on this, but if I did it would be NeatImage. THanks! |

Macro Day 9by socalsteveComment by MelonMusketeer: The lens is a "curved field" lens. Lenses for copy work, and some like the Micro Nikkors are "flat field" in their focus, which is great for copy work and shooting in the small stuff world. Take a look thru your setup at the inside of a bowl, and you may see focus all over when up this close.
This image has an almost fisheye look because of the way the edges are stretched. The grains of sand are a good macro subject. |

Macro Day 9by socalsteveComment by slaakso: I am looking for the sharpness in the center but my eyes is failing me. I do however see the sharpness fall off at the edges. Everything has limits and you've found some for your lens setup. |
