I like the idea of this shot, but the backgroud isn't quite right. Cropping out the top so you don't see the top of the curtains would help and would also focus attention towards the face/pose.

The large blurred section in the foreground doesn't work here I think. Blurring large objects in the foreground is really hard to pull off though. I like your concept, but compositionally it could be a lot stronger from either closer in or further away I think

Nice take on the original. I think a less distracting background and more detail in the texture of the cat's fur would help. I like that you have the cat's face in your take - it adds more interest. Your colors match perfectly.

DOF is sufficient to keep the complete head in focus - good job. THe only part I find improvable is the control of the background (the bright spot, and the bright band between the ears), 7
