A Marriage of Earth and Skyby JimiRoseComment by hesitant: this is great (was it you who shoehorned the 'daring bride' [or something like that] into a previous challenge?)
Recently, I spotted a wedding dress in a charity shop for only £12. It gave me ideas but I think I'd struggle to find a willing model.
Good Luck - 9 |

Clarissa's Wristsby JimiRoseComment by snaffles: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Initial impression: Love the composition here, reflects a vibrant, cheery, energetic nature barely contained by her injuries. I bet she'll be back snowboarding (or whatever other adrenaline sport she enjoys when there isn't any snow) as soon as those bandages come off! She's probably the sort who has the nurses in stitches when they're trying to treat her.
Technical: Compostion pleasing, the pov is different (and thus good), like the crop and the contrast, the dof is good, the lighting is better on the face and eye catchlights are good, but almost gives a flat aspect to her arm.
Artistic: Though the b/w doesn't necessarily harm this shot, I wonder if it does the original any justice. Have to agree with comments pointing out the waxiness of the skin, though I see it more on her arms than her face, and lack of lips, especially as she looks to have a lovely smile.
FWIW: I probably would have gone with colour, and had Riss bring along a couple of lipsticks to experiment with and help frame her mouth.
Feel free to PM me with any questions,
Susan |

Down a Dark Alleyby JimiRoseComment by snaffles: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Initial impression: Still makes my blood run cold, because this is such a reality. I gave you an 8 and would still give you an 8, possibly a 9, for the sharpness of this shot.
Technical: Great concept, very well executed. Great dof, the lighting is wonderful, just enough light on the blade without losing it to glare. The composition is very good, simple and effective. Great use of negative space.
Artistic: I can almost hear you saying,'Give me your money or else.' The shadows on your face are great, the tilt of the cowl/hood and knife almost converge, and the cold look to your equally hooded eyes all work beautifully together.
FWIW: Wouldn't change a thing. Keep up the good work!
Feel free to PM me with any questions,
Susan |

A Marriage of Earth and Skyby JimiRoseComment by Teafran: Very different and unigue - a solid image that is crisp, sharp and properly framed and composed - a technical success in every way. From an artistic standpoint, it has significant impact being richly colored with excellant detail. This image would have worked as a black and white as well. A perfect demonstration of the power of properly controlled light and focus. A potential top ten if not a ribbon winner. Well done. |
