eagle9.JPGby icu1965Comment by MelonMusketeer: I am not sure what I would do about the shadow across the image here. It looks like the shadow of a telephone pole because it is straight. You were shooting in tough conditions with the huge contrast of the snow and the bird, and overcast, and you made it look pretty good. You didn't post shooting info with this shot. I have found that at 300 mm, I have to shoot at 1/1500 or faster to get sharp hand held images. I also noticed that my favorite birding glass, the 300 4.5 Nikkor is not as sharp as I would like it to be when shooting at 4.5, so I have to stop down to 5.6.
That's why I use a monopod for most of my tele shots. |

comingorgoing.JPGby icu1965Comment by MelonMusketeer: This is interesting. You have 3 sets of tracks, a couple of walking birds, a hopping bird, and then the dogs came along on top of all of it.
The contrast makes it work for me. It's cold there. |

comingorgoing.JPGby icu1965Comment by JerseyGenie: Nice one, Jess. I'm a bit under the weather, so I'm not even going to attempt any shots until later in the week.
Thanks for starting us off.
I really like your interpretation of wild life. I wanted this to be a very creative side challenge AND you've started us out in fine fashion.
Thank you. |

damnsquirrelby icu1965Comment by cgino: I live in the desert (nearly) and miss tree squirrels! I've seen a couple of ground squirrels around, but they are pretty scarce with all the nasty wild dogs running free in the neighborhhod (the wild dogs kill cats too, so I'm not so very fond of them). Sorry to hear the squirrels are annoying where you are, you can ship a few here :-) Cute image, BTW! |
