The idea is good for desolation, but I don't see (except for the title) that it is realy burnt. It could be winter picture.

Not the most interesting composition. Needs more contrast. It will bring out the reflections. Kind of blurry. Needs a little more detail.

I think if you had positioned a dark piece or a white piece of paper or material on a diaganol half way under the ruler that this might not have been so dull. Your image might have more tonality in the grayscale but it is too gray throughout here as is (and the white border is not doing it).

Definitely right angles, but the top left seems to be a little out of focus. I know that's being picky, but I didn't take much off. I just think still photos of precision instruments usually benefit from sharp focus.
