In my opinion, the subject should be the colour. Of course, you couldn't have made the focus on the hood and leave the blurred face. It's a good shot! But... not for this challenge. Here "Orange" must be the subject.

I have began to take pictures of people finally, and I have found the that the best way to get a really good shot is to catch them when they are oblivious to you/the camera's presence. i.e. catch him as he is putting on the pack, or starting to walk off. a color filter would also provide a more interesting light to add more content to the picture. Hope you guys enjoyed the backpacking trip!!! I just got back from a week long excursion through the mountains!

Makes a nice change from endless bubble in glass pix. Nice focus. I wonder if cropping a little more off the right hand side would prevent the background distracting from the foreground. This isn't Kenny is it? I thought they'd killed him?!
