Comment by FranziskaLang:
I just checked out NJMonthly on the web and it seems they use quite a variety of cover photo formats so I'll accept this one ... even though it doesn't strike me as very typical, or easily cropped into a vertical format. But there's room at the top to put text, that's a bonus. (4)

Anyhow, as a photo, I like how you've filled the space with the boat. The little parachute is a nice addition. I can see this kind of pic being used to lure people to NJ. Overall, your image appears quite soft though, and that's something I wouldn't expect to see on a magazine cover. Not sure if that's focus or might be easily fixed with a little USM.

Never heard of this magazine. Just looks like a snapshot that conveys nothing about NJ to me.

a little grainy and would look more like a magazine cover if it was shaped like a magazine.

Personally I do not consider magazines to be in a horizontal shape... thats just me though. I do hope your one of the people coming to Saturday's East Coast GTG in NYC. Lots of blue in this photo! I think that unless you planned to put a lot of REALLY BIG words at the top there is too much sky, and that makes up almost half of the whole photo. I would have cropped out a large part of that! I do like the parachuter/parasailer in the background though.

Great start for your first entry =o) I simply adore this photo as I said during the voting its a 10 from me, but then I am very partial to the sentimental types.

Your focus and dof are really good. The little girl is in good focus while the bear is slightly softer. The only thing I might change about the whole image is a little lighter, the little girl especially appears to be too dark, based on skintones.

I believe it does say Home Sweet Home in such a soft delicate way, well done and welcome to DPChallenge. I'll be looking forward to seeing more images like this in the near future from you =o)
