sorry, but my focus is on the blades and more specific where they meet. That point is close to center. I however love the shot you took. 5 (center)

Critique Club Review,

Good message from the photo, it does fit well with the title and tell the story. I'm notm sure if the backlighting was on, on the PDA, but it could have helped to make the solitate game stand out more. As it is, the game is a bit dark and tends to fade into the table surface. It is also overwhelmed by the brightnes of the PDA case and the nearby glass. The eye wants to travel up the glass, and then is distracted by the out of focus rim, and the chalk line that tries to pull in tow directions from the center. Otherwise the depth of field is good, and exposure is a bit contrasty running the wood dark and almost washing out the case of the PDA. Excellent idea for the phot. Got a big grin from me.

Nice shot. Its a different perspective on the windmill, but I'm not sure its the most effective. Greyscaling was good. The blades look funky though. Not sure if it some compression problems or oversharpening, but they don't look right. I like the shot overall tho

the perspective is a little disorienting at first. the blades of the windmill dominate the frame a bit too much for my taste. nice feel to the shot though...would also have worked for low-key challenge. :)

FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB

Hello, Bob,

The lovely lady is really lovely! So is this image.

First impression: This is one of those images that make you smile and think of words such as "magical". The unexpected choice of BW works well here. I say "unexpected" because at least in my mind bubbles are ussually associated with colour. IMHO it meets the challenge just fine.

Light: Excellent. The skin-tones are beautiful. The light bubbles against the dark background are very good. I'm wondering, how did you convert this picture to BW? It must not be a straight conversion to greyscale.

Focus: Very good. The face/hand are nicely in focus, the background is appropriately blurred, the bubbles are in and out, floating. I really like how the bubble that's being formed and the bubble wand show movement over time, and that even though the shutter speed you used wasn't all that slow.

Composition: First, I love the square format for this shot. The thin white mat is very appropriate. Composition overall is excellent, with the exception of the path in the background. It is hard to tell, but the picture might be better if the path were not there (so you have a lot of landscaping to do now!).

Overall: Very good entry to this challenge, and your final score shows it. BTW, about your other picture in your portfolio, "Enjoying a Kiss", that is your wife again, right? I hope that's you with her!

Take care,

Ursula (uabresch)
