Candy, anyone?by Yo_SpiffComment by vawendy: I actually liked the shot, but I didn't know about the pooping part, so I couldn't figure out what the brown blob was, and it distracted from the photo. I gave it a 6. If you would have simply named it pooping pig candy dispenser, it probably would have gotten a 7 or 8 (i really liked the pig, but like I said, the OOF brown blob didn't add much when you didn't know what it was) |

Candy, anyone?by Yo_SpiffComment by BeeCee: All I can guess is that too many didn't know what was unusual about it? *shrug* I like it.
(I have the reindeer) :) |

Candy, anyone?by Yo_SpiffComment by Melethia: Nope, DOF is not too shallow. I thought this worked very well, both as a photograph on its own and for the challenge. Quite a smile-generating picture in my opinion. The low voters are probably of the mind that "toys" aren't good for challenges. Or they all have this particular toy and therefore don't find it a bit unusual. Sorry I can't be of help on this one. |

Eye of the Predatorby Yo_SpiffComment by Melethia: I gave you a 6 on this. You did get excellent detail - nice work to balance out the shot with the use of layers; not oversharpened; pretty good composition. It may be a bit too tight, but for what you were after I think it's OK. Why a 6? Eagle oversaturation, perhaps. DPC has some phenominal eagle shots - hard to compete with what has come before. Another factor may be that the light is pretty bright for this. I normally don't comment on blown bits, because I tend to blow a lot of bits (both photographically and computer-wise) but you do have some on the beak. Also, I almost think this might work better in B&W but keep in mind that's because I generally prefer B&W - most people prefer color. |

Eye of the Predatorby Yo_SpiffComment by Tez: yeah, the details are ok but it takes more than that for a winning pic. Also, it looks like the focus was on the bird's far side (look at the brow of the eye you can't see) and only the DOF kept in the foreground, just not entirely.
Personally, whenever I see a shot like this. I wish the photorapher would wait until the bird was doing something more interesting than looking at something- swooping, squawking, taking off or whatever but at least something. I would have given this a 4 because the points i made are easily changed through patience and good ol' chimping. |

Angelby Yo_SpiffComment by fldave: Love the wings, he really does look angelic... except for that breathing fire and tromping on Tokyo thing... |
