Great idea. Clever. Very nice image, but... in my opinion I don't think the shallow depth of field helped you here. The snow (or white foam that represents snow) is enough of a fade off into the sunset effect that I'd like all the coal and the carrot to be in focus. I'd certainly like more detail and contrast within the carrot itself.

Still a very nice image and, again, very creative.

you really have some great clarity going on here, I almost wish the background were a little more oooey gooey (ya those are words...lol) this is only a suggestion...have you used gaussian blur? if applied to the background then erasing her lovely face to bring it out more...she is quiet darling
