Great concept and it nails the challenge. 2 nitpicks though...

1 ~ The horizon id severly sloped and I don't feel it adds anything to the shot.

2 ~ you could take a lot off both the left and right and lose nothing. I feel that losing the left to the fence pole and losing the right to the volleyball net post (or even closer) would have left you with a much stronger image.

But that's just me.

Not having it been a sunny day helps this picture in a way as it gives it a more "real" feeling, that there are ups and down in life and love as well. Overall its a nice picture.

Gorgeous photo. The only critique I'd have of it is a personal rather than a technical one. Viewing this picture I would love to visit this locale. While that is a subjective connotative view of "Desolation" its how I feel. Overall I'm going with - 8
