IMG_8206_2by david_cComment by PGerst: Excellent exposure despite the horrid time of day you shot that. Excellent balance with the tux and dress. Did you process for the tux? |

IMG_7541by david_cComment by PGerst: This is very nice. Very good balance of light, which is always difficult with a white dress. Love the smile, and the fact she is NOT looking at the camera. Perfect. |

IMG_7800by david_cComment by PGerst: Yes, exactly the type of photo I have seen missing from the photographers that have done my families' weddings. Its the capture as it happened shot. The shots where the bride and groom don't see. |

This guy was a character, all right. The ceremony was entirely in French, so I only got bits and pieces of what he was saying, but he had the guests right there with him, laughing and crying all at the same time. Apparently, he came out of semi-retirement to perform for the couple. |

Thanks, Judy! Lemme try that white vignette, great idea... :))) |

Night Shift at the Replicant Factoryby david_cComment by spiritualspatula: Bummer on the DQ. I knew this was going to be one of the higher finishers during voting. It sets up that cold industrial feel very well, and the huge variety of lighting on the surfaces brings a lot for the viewer to look at. |

Summer Vacation by david_cComment by david_c: Originally posted by NiallOTuama: For votes I think this was the one to pick alright.
It's not all about the votes though. I'm mostly happy if I get one positive comment from a shot.
Yo_Spiff seems to sometimes talk about submitting shots that appeal to a certain sub-culture of DPC, and I think he's happy when they respond to the shot. I'm not sure if I'd feel comfortable doing that yet though. |
Oh, for sure. In the case of this image, it has a broader appeal...dramatic sky, reflections, HDR toning. In the case of the shot I wanted to submit, it might have struck a chord with someone who's actually seen Avatar (not the crappy movie, but the three seasons of animation heaven). I dunno, I guess I really want another ribbon, then I can be like "pfffft, I'm a multiple ribbon winner, if you don't get my awesome photography skillz, it's because YOU suck". :D |
