Butterfly 21 RS.jpgby ephlnComment by purpleflutterby13: Great shot :) The composition is spot on (the wings form such a lovely diagonal), and there's something very cool about crazy monochrome-patterned wings in the middle of a coloured background.
I'd be tempted to dodge and burn the wings at a low opacity to make them look more dramatic. |

Butterfly 19 CR RS.jpgby ephlnComment by purpleflutterby13: Gorgeous shot. However, the first thing a viewer sees is that blue/white blob of light above the butterfly's head. Maybe darkening it with a soft light layer would shift the focus of the picture to where you want it.
There's a lot of noise in the background, but I'd say in this case the noise actually looks quite nice. |

Tiny Dancerby ephlnComment by purpleflutterby13: That's gorgeous! I love the bright colours. You've done a really good job of the editing - it really shifted the focus from distracting background elements to the subject itself. And like all best editing, you can't tell it's been done in the final version.
I only noticed the ballerina once I saw the title :) |

Giraffe by ephlnComment by purpleflutterby13: Aww, giraffes are so cute!
Very cool picture, I think the composition is great, and I really like the high contrast between the subject and the background.
The only improvement I can suggest is to try and use a low opacity cloning stamp to fix up some of those blown highlights on the giraffe's face. |

Lorikeetby ephlnComment by purpleflutterby13: My god, the colours! Nice bokeh too :)
Actually, damn impressive bokeh with that camera, I really had trouble getting my P&S to do stuff like that.
On the other hand, I'd maybe go for a slightly different composition, maybe cropping off some of the right side or something. In terms of editing, I'd maybe run it through Neat Image again, there seems to be quite a bit of noise in the background. And you can make the bird stand out more by darkening the background with a black brush in a low opacity soft light layer.

Day 2by ephlnComment by WriteHeart: Very nice composition. I like the depth of field too with the corner being oof closer to the view. Glad you were able to save this with B&W. |

Nature's Chaosby ephlnComment by jblaylockrayner: Nice shot - Like the tones - Like the different angle - Wish we could see a little more of the bee and the out of focus elements are a little distracting. |
