Nice take on the challenge! Like the burning up of the page, great touch. The black background really takes away from the subject though. Would suggest to have cropped the photo with just the page in it. Otherwise, good job. 6

This image should have been taken more zoomed in on the burning sheet of paper, or more of the outside grey should have been cropped out.

you didnt use your space very well. subject is positioned in an odd way but probably because it is being held by something at the top. maybe you could have layed it flat on the ground in the center of the photo. also, there is something in the lower left corner that should have been cropped.

i was thinking about submitting a "speed reading" photo, too, with the newest harry potter book on the last page... this is an interesting take on the challenge... i wish you've cropped out that thingy from the left bottom corner... in addition, the picture is a little "noisy", too, did you try neatimage?

I get it, but I don't get it... What does the flame have to do with speed reading, and why is speed repeated 100+ times, and why does it get smaller and smaller. I don't know, maybe too deep for me.

The photo itself is OK. Looks like you may have a hot pixel (no vote deduction) You should have cropped out the bottom left corner. The background's a little noisy at the right, and you got what looks like some JPEG artifacts on the paper - don't compress so much. The composition is interesting. The edges of the paper are sharp enough, but the text could be sharper.

Greetings From the Critique Club:

Hi Cole,
I noticed that you are new here. I want to welcome you to this addicting photography site. I hope that you are finding it fun as well as informative.

CRITIQUE - VINYL REFLECTIONS:

Challenge: It is obvious that the subjects, the record label and guitar reflection, in your photo are off-center. Therefore, you have met the criteria for the challenge.

Composition: I am impressed with the thought that you put in to taking this photo. It is a nice symbolic way to represent Bob Dylan by not actually having him in the photo. I think the symbolism was lost on some people...thus your low score. I'm personally not a huge fan of Bob Dylan, but I do know that he is a singer, a song writer, and guitar player. The reflection of the guitar on the vinyl, to me, reflects the kind of guitar music that would be playing if we could hear the record being played. Very nice and inventive.

The thing that mostly bothers me about this picture is the color. Like I said above, it is such a good idea, but I do believe that it would be so much better if the record label were a different color, one that contrasts with the color of the guitar. Perhaps if Bob Dylan had a record with a label that is blue... or rather any color beside orange, red or brown would work better.

Technical: Technically, you picture is sound. It is well focused and the lighting is balanced. Perhaps, if I were to be picky, the cropping is a little uneven. On the left, you have cut off a portion of the record label, while the bottom portion was left intact.

I enjoyed doing this critique. I hope you found it helpful.

very cool effect. I like the reflection of the guitar in the vinyl, and I love the fact that that's a Bob Dylan record. How authentic, and a very unique and pleasing interpretation of the challenge!
