i think that the bold black border goes well with the bold stripes and was a good choice. two things bother me though. the first is the eyes. they seem to be staring past the viewer, and aren't as engaging as they could be. the second is the slight change in the background color starting from left to right, going from pink to almost white on the right. it's just subtile enough to bother me. maybe shadows caused one side to seem darker than the other. whatever the reason it's not as important as the eyes.
