Photography 103by zeuszenComment by ubique: I opened all four in the series and flicked back and forth looking for ... something. The one I liked best, I suppose, although what that would prove I really don't know. This one's the most engaging for me (at least for today), probably because it's the most complex. But there is no 'best'.
The fact that they are looking in different directions here suggests different agenda, and thus different points of view. One sees unaided, one uses a camera. One walks unaided, the other not. So it seems right that they appear as one audience viewing two separate plays.
The man in the mobility chair looks upward, and the stairs explain it (and maybe mock him as well). But he doesn't look dismayed.
The man with the camera crouches and contorts himself a little (seen in 101 & 104 as well), and gives the impression that he needs to focus his body as well as his lens to get what he wants. I've seen others do that. I wonder if I do it?
Nice series. Seems like street theatre. |

1185 W. Georgiaby zeuszenComment by ubique: Three years later, and I still remember it! And I haven't lost my admiration for it either. In the intervening period I have slowly realised that I have a great attraction to images that are both abstract and not abstract at the same time. Images that have two lives simultaneously, I suppose; a literal identity (1185 W. Georgia) and another life as a celebration of what beauty can derive from just shapes, tones and mass, and the relationships between them. I have in the last year or so begun to experiment with this abstract/not abstract idea myself, and this image has remained clear in my mind as the inspiration for it. |

Lost Lagoon Heronby zeuszenComment by MaryO: I love how his feathers are all pouffed out, and he looks quite blue, indeed. A magnificent-looking bird. |

Unadornedby zeuszenComment by yanko: I like how the shadow appears to rise above the twig like a soul leaving the body. There are no leaves, no water, no actual life except the memory of one. Perhaps the memory of many who made that transitioned from ocean to land. |
